I really enjoyed the lose to win session today. Lotsa kicking, jumping and hopping, should have burned around 500 calories.

I read on yahoo 17 ways to raise your metabolism rate, below is a summarise version which I think are the more important ones.

1. Move more, you can shake your leg, play with your pen or even chew on sugar free chewy gum. As these movement uses energy, therefore, you could burn up to 500 calories if you are fidgety enough in the day. - I'm amazed with this finding

2. Drinking cold drinks will help to increase metabolism rate. This is because energy is used to warming up the drink you have taken to suit to you body temperature. - I'm quite subjective about this though

3. Taking spicy food speed up your metablic rate by 20 percent or more after an hour of food intake. As it's believed that chilli turn up the heat in your body and increase activity of burning fats. This is quite true, no wonder Koreans, Chinese always eat spicy hot pot during winter.

4. Take in "negative calorie" food. I will touch on this tomorrow. Really like this concept.

5. Take in enough amount of calories your body need for the day. Your body will naturally know you are on diet and will tend to store fats if you are on crash diets. Therefore, plan your meals carefully.

6. Do not skip breakfast. This is what doctors always tell us since young. Breakfast helps to start your body engine and determine your mood/energy for the day.

7. Remember to exercise.

8. Focus on muscle at the gym. Building muscle will help you burn more calories even when you're not moving. While cardio exercise helps to burn fat, muscle building speeds up your metabolic rate for up to 2 hours after every 20-minute session. Better still: every pound of muscle in the body burns 35 calories per day rather than the 2 calories burned by a pound of fat. Quoted from yahoo

9. Drink some drinks with caffeine. Be it coffee or tea, these helps to increase your metabolism rate. But remember not to add too much sugar and milk, just little bit will do.

10. And most importantly is to sleep at the right time. Your body certainly need to rest.

24 August - Destructive to have dinner late

Today is 15th of the 7th month, so there's a praying session and it means lotsa food. A very destructive day as meals were not taken on time and mouth + eyes itchy. See everything feel like eating. And had dinner real late at 11pm - I will not do this again as I suffered a slight setback when I step on the weighing scale this morning.

Pictures of food cook by ma.

16 August - Nutrition workshop @ Tampines

Breakfast - 1 chocolate shake with meiji low fat milk

Lunch - Yummy vegetarian fried bee hoon, it's a bit oily, but have craving

Dinner - 500ml of soya bean milk from rochor original, so full after drinking soya. But goes hungry after 2-3 hours. So had half a piece of bread, 1 mouthful of lao po bing and 2 mouthful of chicken pie and few pieces of roasted meat

Activity - Moderate walking

We went to the LtW nutrition working @ Tampines Ntuc and that's so far from home. But the nutritionist did told us some useful information. Look below for some of the tips she mentioned.

1) Try to take low fat milk with high calcium, you can take a look at the nutrition readings at the back of the product

2) For bread, it's good to take wholewheat or high dietary fibre bread as these contain more dietary fibre and lower calories. Dietary fibre helps to smoothen the bowel passing process and brings out the fats in the body after your exercise.

3) Choose high dietary fibre biscuits and take note of the calories count of the snacks you are taking. Because often, people cannot control the amount they take a day.

4) Cooking oil, choose those with unsaturated fats like vegetable oil. As oil with high content of saturated fats will clog up the vessels. And believe it or not 1 teaspoon of oil is already 125 calories. Want to faint when I hear this. No wonder Curry Puff is 600 plus calories.

5) Try to have something light for your dinner and it's best if you have it before 8pm. Because we don't move much after our dinner, therefore, it's good if we don't take in too much food.

6) It's alright for you to take fruits after your meal. I still have doubt about this though.

7) White rice and unpolished rice has the same amount of calories, just that if you take unpolished rice, the sugar content will be lower than the white rice.

8) Drink lotsa water if you are taking food with high dietary fibre

15 August - Fitness & musical

Lunch - home cooked unpolished rice, yeah, I cooked the meal! Took me around 2 hours, fainted. Cook cook cook, no garlic, Sis S went down to get. Dinner - Around 5 pieces of niwa sushi, yummy

Me and siss watch Yu Ji yesterday. So cool, Kit Chan is marvelous.

Activity - 1 hour and 15mins of aerobics with LtW, so tiring. Almost went out of breath, it's quite a tough session yesterday. But I feel really good! =)

On a side note: I'm drinking 3.7 litres of water everyday now. My coach from Herbalife mentioned it's best to finish the amount of water you need before 7pm.

13 August - The sinful friday

Sinful buffet day @ Kiseki and yes, can forget about the calories count for yesterday. Buffet - you pay for it, you eat as much as you can. I have been trying not to think like that, however, still fail terribly.

I like the way the signage are done. It's something different to tell people B1 has this this this shop and links to suntec city.

Work hard tomorrow to get rid of the fats gained.

Definitely NOT going to eat Kiseki again, Kuishinbo is still the best. Dong dong dong, 1 2 3... =)

Happy birthday, Singapore

Da da, this is my "brunch", breakfast + lunch

I had to go out earlier, so, had my breakfast and lunch together, redeemed this "bee hoon" soup from Kopitiam using LtW voucher. I'm quite sick of Kopitiam healthier choice food already.

Dinner - At least 300ml of soya bean milk, I lost count

Along the way - Ate few strips of cuttle fish, 4 pieces of guava, few mouthful of mudpie + mango cake from Coffee club

It is a bit of here and there today.

Activity - Moderate walking, going around train station + everton taking photos

Happy birthday Singapore! I don't like this year theme song, no feel

How? My mouth still feeling itchy. I better go back to my routine tomorrow.

Chanting... Wednesday, wednesday, wednesday

8 August

It was quite an angry day at the start because I was feeling hungry for both breakfast and lunch. Afternoon was great because of the exercise session and walking.

Breakfast - 1 piece of soon kueh

Lunch - Home cooked unpolished rice with 1 vegetable and 1 meat + half a guava, when cooking the meat, I realise we have ran out of dark soya sauce, so went to the mamashop to buy =S

Dinner - I ate a bigger portion for lunch, so only had 300ml of soya bean milk from Mr bean, my favourite ah bean

Activity - Exercise session by LtW and moderate walking, the session was so enjoyable, I must say the instructor was great

For the LtW nutrition class, the nutritionist mentioned that during this weight loss period, we can eat anything we like, just that we should cut down on the portion so that the amount of calories intake does not exceed our daily needed intake. I really like this concept, because I used to think, "Oh, I am on diet, so, I cannot eat this this this that that that". But actually it's not right, because we must be able to substain our improvised diet till we achieve our desired goals. If we go, can't eat this, can't eat that, we tend to give up easily after a month or so.

Now, go and check out how much water you should be drinking a day. Because detox is the first step to weight loss.

7 August post - was too sleepy yesterday

I woke up at 7am yesterday, it's not my normal routine, so got tired at 11 plus and fell asleep.

Yesterday, I had some craving for Sushi, and it is weekend so I excuse myself =)

Breakfast - Oatmilk + oats + 1 "soon kueh", my favorite "soon kueh"

Lunch - Vegetarian "Lor mee", yummy

Dinner - 1 thai seedless guava + sakae sushi (2 salmon avacado + 2 fried toufu + 1 shared salmon don with sis S and sis L)

We had dinner a bit too late at 9 plus after watching movie "salt". It's best to have your dinner at around 7 and try to not to have food after 8. As the food will take around 2-3 hours to digest. So it's best not to crash with our sleeping hours.

Now, go and count the amount of calories you can take in a day, let me try googling.

This is quite a good one, http://www.shapefit.com/dailycalorie-calc.html

And pai seh la, I din capture any photos, was too greedy when I see food. wahahha

Eh, forget my activities

Activity - Gym for 1 hour and 20 mins

Friday, August 6, 2010

Should have taken some photos

Ai yah, I should have taken picture of the food I ate to make this blog more interesting, will start tomorrow

Breakfast - Oat + Oat milk powder

Lunch - Brown rice + 2 vegetables + 1 lean pork meat, redeemed using Lose to Win (LtW) voucher

Dinner - 2 pieces of cheese bread from 4leave + 200ml of soya bean milk + 1 thailand seedless guava + 1 shake with 150ml of meiji milk and 150ml of water with 3 ices cubes

Who is licking my leg? Let me see, AH HA, is Doggy H. Doggy H likes to lick me, makes me wonder if any part of my body is failing therefore producing some weird smell/taste/substance

In my 1st post, I mentioned that at the beginning of the Herbalife weight loss challenge, I skipped Carbohydrate + tibits. I loss about 3 kg. However, I start to miss my fragrance rice and I think THIS IS NOT GOING TO WORK. How to skip rice for the rest of my life? So now, I take 1/2 bowl of rice each meal, sometimes, I replace it with unpolished rice.

Activities - Swimming, 800 metres, free style and frog style

See, excuses, I swim 800 metres and I eat extra 2 pieces of cheese bread. That's why my "coach" told me. Concept of dieting should always start with the food you take in. Because we always like to pamper ourselves after our exercise session.

Pretty tired now, will share with you what LtW nutritionist shared with us tomorrow

What a joke - weight lost journey

I have changed my domain to j-weight-loss-journey.blogspot.com

Apparently, I made a mistake between the word "lost" and "loss", but lost did add a bit of humour to my blog

thx siss for clarifying =)

9kg differences

This is around 7 weeks and 9kg differences.

Breakfast - 1 pack of 300ml milo

Lunch - One chicken toufu claypot with rice from Kopitiam. This is redeemed using the lose to win voucher, thus, portion of the rice was around half of what the vendors usually give us

Dinner - 1 topical fruit shake mixed with 150ml of low fat meiji milk, 150ml of water , 4 cubes of ices + 1 red apple + 1 piece of chocolate + 1 piece of "wu xiang"

Activities - moderate walking, don't have much time for exercise today. Still trying to resolve my mailbox problem

Mood - Pretty happy =)

I should be asleep now so that my body and organs can rest.

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

I have started many blogs and closed many blogs, hope this will last

Today is definitely not the first day. Let me check.

1st July - I posted an entry on my already "closed" blog.

I am in a competition, those to make myself healthier.

Have to skip on carbohydrate, am taking some substitute product as well. It feels good. I will not disclose the product for now unless the result is more prominent.

Going for a swim later to burn some fats. Go go all the way! =)

Today, 4th of August, yes, hungry now, have to wait till the weighing session later at Herbalife before I grab my food and head for the exercise session by "LosetoWin".

I am not skipping carbohydrate anymore, will tell you more on my next post.
